Ebooks arrive in your library showing a file name as the title, an empty author field and a grey cover. All of that lives in one OPF file inside the EPUB. This tool reads it into a form; once you are done it repacks the book, leaving the text and layout untouched.

## How to use

1. Choose an .epub file — the form fills in with what is already there
2. Edit the title, author, language, description and subjects
3. Replace the cover if you want to
4. Click Build new EPUB and download it once the self-check passes

## Features

- Several authors separated by commas become separate dc:creator entries
- A new cover is re-encoded into the original cover format and path, so the cover page keeps working
- Books without a cover can have one added
- Adds the dcterms:modified and cover-image markers modern readers expect
- Self-checks mimetype, XML, manifest and navigation after packing

## FAQ

### Does it overwrite the original file?

No. A browser cannot rewrite local files, so you get a new EPUB and the original stays as your backup.

### Why does my library still show the old details?

Libraries cache metadata. Calibre, Apple Books and the rest read it once on import and then keep their own record, so remove the book and import it again.

### Should I change the unique identifier?

Usually not. It is the book's identity and libraries use it to spot duplicates. Generate a new UUID only for a book you are producing yourself, or when two different books ended up sharing an identifier.

### What cover size works best?

Portrait, around 1600x2400. Small images look soft on big screens, and the tool never upscales — it keeps whatever you give it.

### Can I fix typos in the text?

Not here. This tool only touches metadata and the cover; editing the prose means unpacking the book and editing its XHTML.
