### Do messaging apps remove location data?

Many do when they compress images, but sending an original file by email, cloud drive or as a document usually keeps EXIF intact. Cleaning first is the safe option.

### Does removing EXIF reduce quality?

Not for JPG or PNG — only the metadata blocks are removed and the image data is untouched. Other formats such as WebP are re-encoded at high quality.
