A clean, interactive multiplication chart you can size from 9 × 9 up to 12 × 12, 15 × 15 or 20 × 20. Hover over any product and its row and column light up, so patterns jump out: each row goes up by the same amount, the square numbers run down the diagonal, and the chart is symmetric because 3 × 7 = 7 × 3. Practice mode hides a quarter, half or all of the cells at random for your child to fill in, then checks every answer at once; the quiz serves random a × b questions, can focus on a single times table, and keeps score and streaks. Print the chart (only the table is printed, blank cells included, so it doubles as a worksheet) or export it as a high-resolution PNG. The Chinese version of this page also includes the classic triangular 9 × 9 rhyme table used in Chinese schools.

## How to use

1. Choose the chart size, from 9 × 9 up to 20 × 20
2. For practice, pick how many cells to hide, fill them in and press “Check answers”
3. Print or export a PNG, or switch to the quiz for random multiplication questions

## FAQ

### Why do schools teach up to 12 × 12?

Twelve shows up everywhere in everyday measures — a dozen, 12 inches in a foot, 12 hours on a clock face — so English-speaking curricula traditionally expect times tables to be known up to 12 × 12. Larger 15 × 15 or 20 × 20 charts are handy for two-digit practice and for spotting square numbers.

### How can I print a blank multiplication chart?

Set the practice option to “Hide all” (or “Hide half”) and press Print; the printed page keeps the empty cells so it works as a worksheet, and choosing “Save as PDF” in the print dialog gives you a PDF. “New set” reshuffles which cells are hidden, and the PNG export uses the same hidden cells.

### What patterns can kids find in the chart?

Each row and column is a skip-counting sequence, the chart is symmetric across the diagonal because multiplication is commutative, the diagonal holds the square numbers 1, 4, 9, 16…, the 5s end in 0 or 5, and the digits of the 9s (up to 9 × 10) add up to 9. Hovering a cell highlights its row and column to make these easy to see.

### What is the Chinese multiplication rhyme table?

Chinese pupils memorise 45 short rhymes such as 三七二十一 (“three seven twenty-one”), one for every pair of factors from 1 to 9 with the smaller factor first. Because each pair appears once, the table forms a staircase triangle instead of a square. Switch the site language to Chinese to see and print that version.
