SVG is often the best way to bring charts, drawings, icons or whole page layouts from a PDF into a web page, Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape: it scales without blurring and shapes and text stay editable. PDF.js dropped its SVG renderer in version 4, so this tool interprets each page’s drawing operators itself and turns paths, fills and strokes (width, caps, dashes), clipping, transparency and blend modes, axial and radial gradients, tiling patterns, Type3 fonts, and form and annotation appearances into matching SVG elements. Text becomes <text>, positioned glyph by glyph, with the PDF font names mapped to common system fonts (Times, Arial, SimSun, SimHei and more); hidden OCR text layers stay transparent but searchable. Images are embedded as PNG or JPEG data URIs, each stored once per page. The few effects that don’t vectorise well (soft masks, mesh gradients and so on) can automatically switch to the image + invisible text method instead: the page is rendered to a high-resolution image that looks exactly like the original, with transparent text on top that’s still selectable and searchable. Choose a page range and download one SVG or a ZIP of many. Everything runs in your browser; files are never uploaded.

## How to use

1. Upload a PDF and choose the conversion method (vector, or image + text layer) and page range
2. Optionally enable automatic image fallback for hard pages and JPEG compression for photos
3. Click Convert to SVG, check the preview of the first page, then download one SVG or a ZIP of all

## Features

- Paths, fills, strokes, dashes and clipping as SVG vectors
- Axial and radial gradients and tiling patterns
- Editable <text> with per-glyph positioning
- Font names mapped to common Western and CJK system fonts
- Images embedded as data URIs, de-duplicated
- Optional image + invisible text fallback for hard pages
- Page range selection, single SVG or ZIP
- Runs locally, nothing uploaded

## FAQ

### Will the SVG look exactly like the PDF?

Shapes, colours, gradients, images and text positions normally match. The main difference is the glyphs: text in the SVG is ordinary text shown in a system font with the same or a similar name (Times, Arial, SimSun, SimHei and so on), so it can look slightly different if the original font isn’t installed — but every character stays where the PDF put it. For a pixel-identical result, choose Image + invisible text layer.

### What may not convert perfectly?

Soft masks (fading transparency), mesh gradients and text used as a clipping path have no direct SVG equivalent and are approximated. With the image fallback on, pages containing them are converted as a high-resolution image plus a transparent text layer, and the result area lists those pages; with it off, you’re told which pages were approximated.

### Can I edit and search the text in the SVG?

In vector mode text is real <text>, so you can edit it in Illustrator, Inkscape or Figma and select or search it in a browser. Invisible OCR layers from scanned PDFs are kept as transparent text. In image mode the page is a picture with a transparent text layer, so text can be selected and searched but its appearance can’t be edited.

### What if the files are large? Is anything uploaded?

Most of an SVG’s size comes from embedded images. Compressing photos as JPEG cuts it substantially; pages with only text and graphics are usually just tens of KB. In image mode size depends on resolution, and 200 DPI is usually plenty. Everything is processed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
