Stream intros, classroom timers, event openers and video intros all use a countdown. This tool creates countdown (or count-up stopwatch) videos right in your browser in five styles: a glowing seven-segment digital display with an optional blinking colon, a flip clock whose cards flip digit by digit, a shrinking progress ring, big minimal numbers with a pop-in animation, and a retro film leader with crosshairs, a sweeping hand, grain and scratches (5-4-3-2-1). Timers run from a few seconds up to 60 minutes in h:mm:ss, mm:ss or seconds-only format, with an optional title, end text such as “Time’s up!” and an end hold. Backgrounds can be solid, gradient, an image (with darkening) or transparent: MP4 uses a green, blue or magenta key colour, and WebM carries a real alpha channel for overlays. Sounds are synthesised in the browser: beeps for the last 3, 5 or 10 seconds and a long beep, chime, buzzer or bell at the end. Export 16:9 (720p, 1080p or 4K), 9:16 vertical or 1:1 at 24 to 60 fps. Identical frames are drawn once and held for their duration; by default only changing frames are encoded (variable frame rate), so even a 60-minute digital countdown exports in minutes, and a constant frame rate option is there for editors. Everything runs locally; nothing is uploaded.

## How to use

1. Set the length (up to 60 minutes), direction, time format, title and end text
2. Choose a style, colours, background, size and frame rate, plus beeps and an end sound
3. Preview it, click Create video and download the MP4 or transparent WebM

## FAQ

### How do I overlay the countdown on my video or stream?

Choose the transparent / chroma key background. If your editor accepts WebM with alpha (Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, OBS media sources and others), export WebM and drop it on top. Otherwise export a green-screen MP4 and remove the green with a chroma key. Glow and shadows are turned off in this mode so the edges key cleanly.

### How long does a 60-minute video take?

Styles that only change once a second, such as digital and flip clock, only draw and encode distinct images: about 3,600 to 7,200 for an hour, which usually takes a few minutes at 1080p. Continuously animated styles like the ring and film leader automatically use fewer animation steps per second on long timers. 4K or constant frame rate take noticeably longer.

### What is variable frame rate, and is it a problem?

A variable-frame-rate MP4 only stores a frame when the picture changes, so it’s small and fast to export, and it plays normally on phones, browsers and social platforms. A few editors handle variable frame rate poorly (drift or timeline issues); in that case export again with constant frame rate.

### Can I use my own sounds?

The built-in sounds are synthesised in your browser: a beep for each of the last seconds and a long beep, chime, buzzer or bell at the end, or no sound at all. To use your own music, export without sound and replace the audio track with the site’s video audio tool.
