Subtitles running early or late, drifting further off as the video goes on, in a format your player rejects, or showing up as garbled text? This subtitle editor fixes all of that in your browser. It opens SRT, WebVTT, ASS/SSA (dialogue lines and basic styles), LRC lyrics, YouTube SBV and plain text, and auto-detects UTF-8, GBK, Big5, Shift-JIS and UTF-16 encodings — switch manually if the guess is wrong. Every cue is listed in a table where you can edit start time, end time and text, with duration and characters per second (too fast is flagged). Timing tools include shifting everything or just the selected cues, two-point sync (give the correct time of two lines and everything in between is stretched linearly — the fix for frame-rate mismatches and gradual drift), 23.976/24/25/29.97 fps conversion, one-click overlap fixing with a minimum gap, and sorting by time. Text tools include find and replace with regular expressions and group references, removing SDH/hearing-impaired tags ([sound effects], (laughs), speaker labels), stripping formatting, merging and splitting cues, and adding or deleting lines — all with undo and redo. Open a local video or audio file to check timing while it plays: the current cue appears on the picture, the table follows along, and one click sets a cue’s start or end to the playhead. Export as SRT, VTT, ASS, LRC, SBV or TXT; ASS export keeps the original styles.

## How to use

1. Drop in a subtitle file or paste subtitle text, and check that the encoding looks right
2. Edit text and timing in the table and use shift, two-point sync, overlap fixing or find & replace — optionally with a video open for reference
3. Choose the export format and file name, then download or copy the result

## FAQ

### Subtitles drift further out of sync over time — shifting doesn’t help. What now?

That is usually a frame-rate mismatch (for example subtitles timed for 23.976 fps on a 25 fps video), so the error grows over time. Use two-point sync: enter the correct time of one line near the start and one near the end, and everything else is stretched proportionally. If you know both frame rates, the frame-rate conversion does it in one step.

### My subtitles show up as garbled characters. How do I fix that?

That is almost always an encoding issue. The editor auto-detects UTF-8, GBK, Big5 and others; if the text still looks wrong, pick the encoding manually — Simplified Chinese files are often GBK, Traditional Chinese Big5, Japanese Shift-JIS. Export is always UTF-8, with an optional BOM for older players.

### What is lost when converting ASS to SRT?

SRT only supports text, line breaks and italic, bold, underline and color, so ASS fonts, positioning, outlines and animations are dropped. Style names and actors stay in the editor, and exporting back to ASS includes the original style definitions.

### Is my video uploaded? Can I check against an MKV?

Nothing is uploaded — the video only plays locally in your browser. Whether it plays depends on your browser’s codecs: MP4 (H.264) and WebM almost always work, some MKV files may not; convert them to MP4 first with the Video Converter if needed.
