Squeeze an hour of sunset, clouds, traffic or a renovation into a few seconds, or turn a series of photos into a timelapse or stop-motion animation. In video mode, speed up by a factor from 2× to 200× or just type how long the finished clip should be. FFmpeg’s setpts compresses the timeline and the fps filter samples frames evenly at your output frame rate; optionally deflicker to smooth the brightness jumps caused by auto-exposure in phone timelapses and sunrises, and add motion blur that blends neighbouring frames so traffic and crowds leave soft light trails. Timelapses are silent, and capping the resolution speeds things up. In photo mode, images are sorted naturally by file name (IMG_2 before IMG_10), by modified time or as added, optionally reversed. Set the frames per second, add crossfades to make low-frame-rate timelapses smoother, and crop everything to 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 9:16 or the first photo’s shape (or fit with black bars), with a looping preview to check the rhythm first. For stop motion, turn on your camera and capture frame by frame — the onion skin shows the previous frame semi-transparently so each small move lines up. Export H.264 MP4 or GIF, all processed locally in your browser.

## How to use

1. Choose Speed up a video and upload a clip, or Photo sequence / stop motion and add photos or capture frames with your camera
2. Set the speed factor or target length (video), or frame rate, crossfade and aspect ratio (photos)
3. Click create, preview the result and download MP4 or GIF

## Features

- Speed up by factor or to a target length
- Even frame sampling with setpts + fps, optional deflicker
- Motion blur by blending frames
- Natural, date or reverse ordering for photos
- Crossfades between frames, crop or fit to a common ratio
- Camera capture for stop motion with onion skin
- Looping sequence preview
- MP4 / GIF export, processed locally

## FAQ

### What speed-up factor should I use?

Factor = original length ÷ finished length. Clouds and sunsets usually look good at 10–30×, traffic and crowds at 20–60×, and flowers opening, construction or a whole day at 100× or more. If you’d rather not calculate, choose Target length and type the number of seconds you want; the tool shows the resulting factor and output length.

### Why does my timelapse flicker, and does deflicker help?

Cameras keep adjusting exposure while recording, and speeding up compresses those small changes into rapid flicker — especially at sunrise and sunset. With Deflicker on, FFmpeg’s deflicker filter averages brightness over neighbouring frames, which fixes most cases. Locking exposure while shooting gives the best results.

### What frame rate should stop motion use?

Classic stop motion often runs at 12 frames per second, so each photo shows for about 0.08 s. 15–24 fps looks smoother but needs more photos, while 6–8 fps gives a handmade, retro feel. Use onion skin, move things only a little between shots and keep the camera on a tripod for a steady result.

### My photos are in the wrong order. What can I do?

By default photos are sorted naturally by name, so camera numbering like IMG_0001, IMG_0002 sorts correctly. If the names have no pattern, sort by modified time instead, or tick Reverse. The order shown in the sequence preview is the order used for export, and frames captured with the camera are numbered automatically.
