📋Markdown Table Generator - Edit Tables Online, Excel to Markdown
Writing Markdown tables for READMEs, docs, GitHub issues or blogs by hand means endlessly lining up pipes and dashes. This tool gives you a visual table editor: type into cells, add or remove rows and columns at any time, click a column button to cycle left, center and right alignment, and the Markdown source updates live. With "Align column widths" on, cells are padded to equal display width (CJK characters count as two), so the source itself is tidy. Existing data can be pasted straight from Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, or imported from CSV / TSV text or an existing Markdown table for editing. Pipes inside cells are escaped and line breaks become
.

FAQ
- How do I convert an Excel table to Markdown?
- Select the cells in Excel or Google Sheets, copy, paste into Import data and click Import into table. The copied content is tab-separated text, which the tool detects automatically, using the first row as the header.
- How does alignment work in Markdown tables?
- Alignment comes from colons in the separator row under the header: :--- left, :---: center, ---: right, and no colon uses the renderer's default. Click the button above each column to cycle it and the separator row is generated for you.
- What about pipes | or line breaks inside cells?
- Pipes are escaped as \| so they are not treated as column separators, and line breaks become
, which GitHub and most renderers display as a new line.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. Everything runs locally in your browser with no network upload and is discarded when you close the page, so it is safe for internal or sensitive data.
