FAQ

Can XMind open the exported .xmind file?
Yes. The file contains both content.json for XMind 2020+ and content.xml for XMind 8; node hierarchy and collapsed state are preserved.
Where is my map saved? Can I see it on another computer?
The map is saved in the local storage of the current browser and never uploaded, so other browsers or computers cannot see it. Export it as .xmind or JSON to move or back it up, then open it any time.
Can I turn Markdown or an existing text outline into a map?
Yes. Use "File โ†’ Import from outline text" and paste Markdown (# headings, - lists) or plain text with indentation for levels; or simply open a .md / .txt file.
Is there collaboration or cloud sync?
It is currently a local-only tool without accounts or cloud sync. Export a file and send it to others; they can open it on this site and continue editing.
Does it work on phones?
It opens in mobile browsers with one-finger panning and tap-to-edit, but keyboard shortcuts and dragging nodes work best on a computer.
Is my content uploaded to a server?
No. Editing, layout, import and export all happen in the browser; the map is stored only in your local browser storage.
Do I need to sign up or pay?
No. It is completely free with no account, no node limit and no watermark on exported images.
