∑LaTeX Equation Editor - PNG, SVG & Word

Write good-looking maths without installing anything: type LaTeX on the left and see it typeset live on the right. If you don’t know a command, click it in the palette — fractions, roots, sums, integrals, matrices, piecewise functions, Greek letters and chemical equations are all there. Then download a transparent PNG or a vector SVG for slides, worksheets and web pages, or copy MathML and paste it into Word as an editable equation. Everything is typeset locally in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

How to use LaTeX Equation Editor

  1. 1Type a formula into the LaTeX box, e.g. \frac{a}{b}, x^2 or \sqrt{x}; the preview updates as you type
  2. 2For structures or symbols you don’t know, click them in the Symbols & structures palette; the cursor lands where you fill in next
  3. 3Switch between display and inline maths, and adjust size, colour, background and padding
  4. 4Download a PNG or SVG, or copy the LaTeX, Markdown, MathML or a share link

FAQ

Can I use it without knowing LaTeX?
Yes. The Symbols & structures palette has buttons for fractions, roots, integrals, matrices and more; clicking one inserts the code and puts the cursor where you need to type. There are also 26 common formulas to start from. You’ll pick up the pattern quickly: ^ for superscripts, _ for subscripts, and braces { } around anything longer than one character.
How do I get an equation into Word?
To keep editing it in Word, click Copy MathML and paste into your document: recent versions of Word (2016 and later, Microsoft 365) turn it into an editable equation. If you only need the look, download a PNG and insert it as a picture; 2× or higher stays sharp in print.
Should I choose PNG or SVG?
SVG is a vector format that stays crisp at any size, ideal for web pages, PowerPoint, Keynote and layout software. PNG works everywhere, including chat apps and online documents. Choose a transparent background and the image sits cleanly on any colour.
What is the difference between display and inline maths?
Display maths takes its own line: limits of sums and integrals sit directly above and below the symbol and fractions are larger. Inline maths sits inside a sentence and is more compact, with limits to the side. They correspond to $$…$$ and $…$ in Markdown.
What does “Formula error” mean?
The usual causes are an unmatched brace (Missing close brace), a misspelled command (Undefined control sequence), or using & and \\ for rows without a matrix or cases environment. While the error is there, the preview keeps showing the last valid result so you can compare.
Can I write chemical equations?
Yes, with \ce{…}: for example \ce{2H2 + O2 -> 2H2O}, where the numbers become subscripts automatically. <=> is a reversible arrow, ->[text] puts a condition above the arrow, and ^ and v mark gases and precipitates. The Chemistry group in the palette has ready-made examples.
Is my formula uploaded anywhere?
No. The typesetting engine (MathJax) runs in your browser and the formula is only stored on your device. Share links carry the formula inside the link itself and never touch our server.
