🫧Remove Watermark from PDF - Text, Image & Layer Watermarks
Watermarked your own document as DRAFT or INTERNAL and now need a clean copy, but the original file is gone? Instead of painting over the page or turning it into an image, this tool analyses the PDF’s structure to find the watermark. It looks for five kinds of candidate: watermark annotations (/Watermark), layers (optional content groups) with watermark-like names, content tagged as a watermark artifact (the /Artifact marking Acrobat and similar tools use), the same image or form object drawn on most pages, and the same piece of text repeated on most pages — rotated, semi-transparent ones, or ones containing words such as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or SAMPLE, are ticked first. Tick the candidates you want gone, click a thumbnail to switch pages and compare the original with the result side by side. Removal parses each page’s drawing operators and drops only the matching text block, object call or marked section; every other byte is kept, so body text stays selectable and searchable, and watermark images that are no longer used are purged from the file. In scanned pages the watermark and the text are the same picture, so they can’t be separated this way. Use it only on documents you own or are authorised to edit. Everything runs in your browser; files are never uploaded.

FAQ
- Which watermarks can be removed?
- Watermarks added as text, images, layers or annotations by PDF editors, office software or scripts are usually detected — including those added with our Watermark PDF tool. In scanned PDFs or files ‘printed to image’, the watermark and the text are merged into one picture and can’t be separated; those need an image retouching tool instead.
- Could it delete my body text or headers too?
- Only the candidates you tick are removed. Headers or a company name repeated on every page are listed as well (but not pre-ticked), so check the After preview before downloading. Only the matching text block or image call is removed; everything else is left byte-for-byte, and font and colour state is restored so later text isn’t affected.
- Can I remove watermarks from other people’s files?
- No. Watermarks often mark copyright, confidentiality or origin, and removing copyright notices from someone else’s work can infringe their rights or break a confidentiality agreement. Use this tool only on documents you created, own the rights to, or have explicit permission to edit.
- Is my file uploaded? What about encrypted PDFs?
- Nothing is uploaded — analysis and removal both happen in your browser. PDFs with an open or permissions password must first be unlocked with Unlock PDF (you need to know the password); then you can remove the watermark.
