✅File MD5 / SHA-256 Checksum - Calculate and Verify Online
After downloading something big, check that it arrived intact and matches what the publisher shipped: drop the file in, paste the checksum from the download page, and a match turns green. Several files at once, and large ones are hashed while streaming instead of being loaded into memory.

How to use File Checksum
- 1Drop in one or more files and tick the algorithms you need (MD5 and SHA-256 by default)
- 2Click Compute and wait for the progress bar
- 3Paste the published checksum into the box — matches are highlighted in green
FAQ
- MD5 or SHA-256?
- To confirm a download is not truncated or corrupt, either works and MD5 is faster. To confirm nobody tampered with the file, use SHA-256: MD5 collisions have been practical for years, so it is no longer a security check.
- My value does not match the published one.
- First make sure you are comparing the same algorithm (MD5 is 32 hex characters, SHA-256 is 64), then that the download finished. A genuine mismatch means the file was corrupted or replaced in transit — download it again, preferably from another mirror.
- How is this different from the Hash tool?
- The Hash tool computes SHA digests of text or a single file. This one is built for verifying files: batches, MD5 and CRC32, comparison against an expected value, exportable manifests, and streaming reads for very large files.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. Every digest is computed in your browser in JavaScript; not a byte of the file leaves your machine.
