⚖️Average Calculator - Mean, Weighted, Geometric and Harmonic
Paste a set of numbers for the arithmetic mean, median, mode, geometric and harmonic means and root mean square. Switch to weighted mode and write “value weight” on each line to compute a weighted average, with every product and its share listed — ideal for coursework and exam weightings.

How to use Average Calculator
- 1Choose simple or weighted average
- 2Paste the data; in weighted mode write “value weight” per line, e.g. 90 3
- 3Read the averages, with a breakdown below in weighted mode
FAQ
- How do I calculate a weighted average?
- Weighted mean = Σ(value×weight) ÷ Σweight. With coursework 90 at 30% and an exam 85 at 70%: (90×3 + 85×7) ÷ 10 = 86.5.
- When should I use the geometric mean?
- For growth rates and investment returns — it is the nth root of the product of the values, and it requires all values to be positive.
- When is the harmonic mean right?
- For average speeds or unit prices, where the quantities share a numerator but differ in the denominator: n ÷ Σ(1/xᵢ).
- Can I leave a weight out?
- Yes — a line with only a value is treated as having weight 1.
