📝Online PDF Editor - Edit PDF Text, Add Text and Images
Edit a PDF the way you edit a document. After upload every page is analysed and each line of text becomes a clickable area; click one and an input appears in place with the same size, weight and colour as the original. Press Enter and the preview switches to the real edited result. The edit happens inside the PDF content stream: the replaced characters are deleted from the file (they can no longer be copied or found), the new text is written back at the same position, size and colour in the closest standard font, and the rest of the line, images and table rules stay exactly where they were. If the new text is longer, it can be shrunk to fit the width of the original line. Besides editing existing text you can add multi-line text anywhere (Chinese supported), insert images such as logos, photos or signatures, and draw cover boxes over unwanted content. Added objects can be dragged and resized, with Ctrl/⌘+Z to undo and Shift to redo. Rotated and cropped pages are edited the way you see them. Scans have no text layer, so you can only add content; vertical text and fonts with special encodings are marked with the reason and skipped. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

FAQ
- Is the old text still in the file?
- No. The edit removes those glyph codes from the page content stream, replaces them with an equal displacement and writes the new text in place, so the old text can neither be seen nor copied or searched, and the text after it on the same line does not shift. Cover boxes are different: they only paint a shape over the content and the text beneath stays in the file. To remove sensitive information for good use Redact PDF.
- Which font is used for the new text? Can it match the original exactly?
- Only the characters you change are rewritten: changing 6,500 to 7,000 rewrites just “7,0”, and everything else keeps its original font and glyphs and stays searchable; if the edit makes the line longer, the rest of the line is moved along with it. Fonts embedded in a PDF usually contain only the characters already used, so writing new text with them would leave gaps. New characters are written in the closest standard font (sans, serif or monospace, keeping bold and italic) with the original size and colour. Latin text looks practically the same; Chinese and other non-Latin text is embedded as a high-resolution image, which displays and prints normally but cannot be selected.
- Why can't some lines be edited?
- Hover over the line to see why: scans contain images, not text; the hidden OCR layer of a scan would change nothing visible; vertical text and text inside form XObjects are not supported yet (horizontal text in CJK fonts with predefined CMaps such as UniGB-UCS2-H or GBK-EUC-H can be edited). You can still cover them with a box and add new text on top.
- How is this different from PDF Find & Replace and Add Text to PDF?
- The PDF editor is point-and-click and what-you-see-is-what-you-get, ideal for a few scattered edits plus added text or images. PDF Find & Replace changes every occurrence of a word across the whole file in one go. Add Text to PDF only places new text on top and does not change the original.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. Analysis, preview and export all run locally in your browser with no network upload, and everything is discarded when you close the page.
