🕹️8-bit Sound Effect Generator - Retro Game SFX Online, WAV
Indie games, game jams and quick prototypes need lots of bleeps and bloops: coin pickups, laser shots, explosions, jumps, hits, power-ups and menu blips. This tool synthesizes them in real time in your browser using the classic sfxr approach. Click a preset to get a fresh sound, click again for another, or hit Mutate to nudge the current one. Every parameter is yours to tweak: five waveforms (square, sawtooth, sine, noise, triangle), a four-stage envelope with attack, sustain, punch and decay, start frequency with slide and delta slide, vibrato, arpeggio jumps, duty-cycle sweep, retrigger, flanger, and resonant low-pass plus high-pass filters. Each preset is driven by a random seed, so the same preset and seed always reproduce the same sound, and the parameters are written into the URL — copy the link and a teammate hears exactly what you hear. Export 8- or 16-bit WAV at 22.05 or 44.1 kHz and drop it straight into Unity, Godot, GameMaker or any engine; the sounds are free for commercial use.

FAQ
- Can I use the sounds commercially?
- Yes. Every sound is synthesized from the parameters you set, with no sampled material involved, so the exported WAV is yours to use in commercial games, videos and apps without attribution.
- How do I reproduce or share a sound?
- Each preset click shows the random seed it used; tick Lock seed and the same preset with the same seed produces the identical sound. Easier still, copy the share link: all parameters are encoded after the # in the URL, so whoever opens it hears exactly the same effect, and nothing passes through a server.
- Which bit depth and sample rate should I pick?
- 16-bit at 44.1 kHz is the safe default with the best compatibility and lowest noise. For a grittier retro feel or the smallest possible files, 8-bit at 22.05 kHz is a quarter of the size and is common in handheld-style and web games.
- How does this relate to sfxr / jsfxr?
- sfxr is Tomas Pettersson’s classic generator made for Ludum Dare, and jsfxr is its web port. This is an independent implementation of the same design (8× oversampled oscillator, resonant low-pass, high-pass, flanger and sweeps) with the same preset rules, so sfxr users will feel at home; it adds a triangle wave, seeds and link sharing.
