⏭️Auto Jump Cut - Remove Silent Pauses from Videos Online

Talking-head videos, lectures, tutorials and meeting recordings are often 20–30% pauses — thinking, breathing, flipping through notes — and trimming them by hand takes forever. This tool runs FFmpeg’s silencedetect over the audio to find every pause quieter than your threshold and longer than your minimum, and marks them in red on a waveform timeline. Padding keeps a little air before and after each phrase so words aren’t clipped, very short cuts are ignored, and stray clicks or breaths between two cuts can be removed too. Toggle any individual cut in the list or on the timeline; the preview skips the parts that will be removed so you see the result before rendering, with the new length and time saved updated live. Instead of removing pauses you can also speed them up (say 4×) for a more natural rhythm. The final video is rebuilt with trim + concat and encoded as H.264 MP4 with picture and sound aligned segment by segment, and you can export a CMX3600 EDL for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve plus a CSV cut list. Everything runs locally; your video is never uploaded.

FAQ

What silence threshold should I use?
The default of -35 dB works well for quiet rooms. With air conditioning, fans or other background noise the pauses are louder, so try -30 dB or even -25 dB. The two thin lines on the timeline show the threshold — pauses should sit between them. Click Detect pauses again after changing the threshold or minimum pause.
The result feels rushed or clips words. How do I fix it?
Increase Padding around speech (0.2–0.3 s) to keep more air around each phrase, or lengthen Minimum pause so natural breaths stay. Alternatively switch the silent parts to Speed up, which keeps the flow smoother.
What is the EDL for?
An EDL (edit decision list) records the in and out points of every kept segment in the original video. Import it with the original file into Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar editors to get a timeline with the pauses already removed, ready for captions, grading and polishing without re-encoding. The CSV lists every segment for spreadsheets.
Will long videos take a long time?
Detecting pauses only decodes the audio, so it’s quick. Exporting re-encodes the whole video in your browser, which depends on your computer and the resolution — 1080p typically runs at a fraction of real time. Hundreds of segments slow things further; a longer minimum pause reduces the count, or compress the video to a lower resolution first.
