📖PDF Booklet Maker - Impose Pages for Saddle-Stitch Booklet Printing Online
To print a PDF as a booklet you can fold in half and staple in the middle — an event programme, a manual, a zine, a menu or an agenda — the pages can’t simply go 1, 2, 3. The front of the first sheet carries the last page and page 1, its back carries page 2 and the second-to-last page, and so on. This tool works out the saddle-stitch order for you, placing two pages side by side on each landscape sheet and padding with blank pages when the page count isn’t a multiple of 4 (optionally before the back cover, so your last page stays on the back). Output as a single duplex file with fronts and backs interleaved (print with “flip on short edge”), or as separate front and back files for printers without automatic duplex. For thicker documents, split into signatures — a few sheets folded together — and stack them for a flatter spine. Right-to-left binding for vertical Chinese, Japanese, Arabic or Hebrew is supported, and paper can be A4, A3, Letter, Tabloid or sized automatically from your pages. A diagram shows exactly which pages land on each side of every sheet.

FAQ
- What printer settings should I use?
- For the duplex output, print double-sided with “flip on short edge”, landscape orientation and “actual size” scaling. Fold the whole stack in half and put two staples along the fold.
- My printer can’t print double-sided automatically — what now?
- Choose separate front and back files. Print the front file, put the stack back in the tray flipped over, then print the back file. If your printer stacks face up and the order comes out reversed, tick “Reverse the order of the backs file”.
- Why were blank pages added?
- Each folded sheet holds 4 pages (2 per side), so a saddle-stitched booklet needs a multiple of 4 pages; the tool pads the rest with blanks. Tick “Put blank pages before the back cover” to keep your original last page on the back.
- When should I use signatures?
- Once a booklet goes beyond a dozen or so sheets, folding them all together makes a thick spine and the inner pages creep outward. Signatures fold a few sheets at a time (for example 4 sheets = 16 pages) and are stacked in order for binding.
