FAQ
- Will the QR code still scan with a logo on it?
- Yes. QR codes carry error correction, and level H can recover from about 30% damage. When you add a logo the tool switches to H automatically and clears the modules under the logo with a padded plate. Keep the logo under about 25% of the code width and rely on the self-check below; if it fails, shrink the logo or add padding.
- How does the scannability self-check work?
- After each change the current design is rendered at several resolutions and decoded with jsQR, the same decoder our QR scanner uses; it only shows Pass if the decoded text matches your content exactly. jsQR is stricter than most phone cameras, so if only the browser’s built-in detector reads it you’ll see Mostly OK — test with a phone before printing.
- Which colors scan most reliably?
- Dark modules on a light background, with a contrast ratio of at least 3:1 — the tool calculates it and warns you. Light-on-dark (inverted) codes are not supported by every scanner, and with gradients both ends need to be dark enough. With a photo background, set the background-color overlay to 50% or more.
- Should I download SVG or PNG?
- SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size — best for print, posters and handing to a designer. PNG and JPG are bitmaps up to 2048×2048 pixels, handy for chats, documents and web pages. For a transparent background use PNG or SVG; JPG has no transparency and is filled with white.
