FAQ

Why are the filenames garbled, and how do I fix them?
Older Windows zip tools store names in the system code page (GBK for Simplified Chinese) without the UTF-8 flag, so other systems read them as UTF-8 and get mojibake. Pick the right encoding under "Filename encoding" — the tool also guesses one for you — and the names, including the extracted files, come out correct.
Can it open password-protected zips?
Yes. When the archive contains encrypted entries a password box appears; ZipCrypto and AES-128/192/256 are all supported. The password is used locally for decryption and is never sent anywhere.
What is the difference between "Download" and "Extract to folder"?
"Download" packs your selection into a fresh zip (a single selected file downloads as-is). "Extract to folder" uses the browser's file system API: you pick a directory and the files are written into it with their subfolders, like a desktop unzip tool. That option currently works in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers.
Can it handle big archives?
Yes. The directory and each file are read on demand rather than loading the whole archive into memory, so zips of several hundred MB to a few GB open fine. Extracting many large files at once is what uses memory — do it in batches if you hit a limit.
