繁Simplified to Traditional Chinese Converter - Taiwan & Hong Kong Variants
Paste Chinese text to switch between Simplified and Traditional characters in real time. The converter uses the open-source OpenCC dictionaries and works word by word, so it handles the many cases where one simplified character maps to several traditional ones: 头发 → 頭髮 (hair) but 发展 → 發展 (develop), 面条 → 麵條 (noodles), 后来 → 後來 (later). Choose Taiwan, Hong Kong or OpenCC-standard character forms; the Taiwan + vocabulary option also swaps mainland terms for the words used in Taiwan, such as 软件 → 軟體 (software), 鼠标 → 滑鼠 (mouse), 打印机 → 印表機 (printer) and 信息 → 資訊 (information), and the reverse direction restores them. Every changed character is highlighted, with the original shown on hover, and the result can be copied, downloaded as TXT or converted back.

FAQ
- What is the difference between Taiwan and Hong Kong Traditional Chinese?
- Both use Traditional characters, but some preferred forms differ: 里 is usually 裡 in Taiwan and 裏 in Hong Kong, and the 面 in noodles is 麵 in Taiwan but often 麪 in Hong Kong. Pick the variant that matches your readers; OpenCC standard uses generic forms without regional adjustments.
- What does the Taiwan vocabulary option change?
- On top of the character forms it replaces mainland Chinese terms with the words used in Taiwan, for example 软件 → 軟體 (software), 鼠标 → 滑鼠 (mouse), 打印机 → 印表機 (printer), 信息 → 資訊 (information) and 出租车 → 計程車 (taxi). Converting back to Simplified with the same option restores the mainland terms. Choose plain Taiwan if you only want character forms changed.
- Why is a character sometimes converted wrongly?
- Simplified and Traditional Chinese do not map one to one — 发 can be 發 or 髮, and 干 can be 乾, 幹 or 干. The dictionaries choose by context and are right in the vast majority of cases, but names, classical texts and new words can still trip them up, so check the highlighted changes.
- Is my text uploaded? Is there a length limit?
- No. The conversion dictionary is downloaded to your browser and all conversion happens locally. The tool is free, needs no account and has no length limit — even long documents convert in a moment.
