📡Morse Code Translator - Text to Morse with Sound, Light & WAV Download

Type text on the left to get Morse code instantly, or paste code on the right to translate it back — letters are separated by spaces and words by “/”, and variants like · and — are accepted. Press Play to hear standard tones through WebAudio while the signal lamp blinks in sync, or turn on full-screen flashing to use your screen as a signal light. Speed (WPM), tone frequency and volume are adjustable, and Farnsworth timing lets characters stay fast while the gaps are stretched — the recommended way to learn copying by ear. Download WAV renders the full message offline into an audio file. In the keying area you can hold the space bar or the on-screen key to send: short presses are dots, long presses dashes, and pauses automatically split letters and words before decoding. The translator covers the 26 letters, 10 digits and common punctuation of International Morse code.

FAQ

What is SOS in Morse code?
SOS is “... --- ...” — three dots, three dashes, three dots — the international distress signal, usually sent as one continuous sequence without letter gaps. Type SOS in the tool to hear it, see it flash, or download it as a WAV file.
What do WPM and Farnsworth mean?
WPM is words per minute based on the standard word “PARIS” (50 dot units), so one dot lasts 1.2 ÷ WPM seconds. A dash is 3 dots, the gap between letters 3 dots and between words 7 dots. Farnsworth timing sends each character at a higher speed but lengthens the gaps, lowering the overall speed — it helps learners recognise characters by their sound rather than counting dots.
Can I download the Morse code audio?
Yes. Click Download WAV and the tool renders the whole message with your current speed, tone and volume using an offline audio context, then saves a 16-bit mono WAV file. Nothing is uploaded — the audio is generated in your browser.
How does tap keying work?
Hold the on-screen key, or the space bar when no text box is focused. A press shorter than two dot lengths is a dot, anything longer is a dash. A pause of three dot lengths ends the letter and seven dot lengths adds a word break. Set the keying speed close to your own rhythm for the most accurate decoding.
