🥁Online Metronome - Free Web Metronome with BPM, Time Signatures, Accents & Subdivisions

Need a steady click to practice piano, drums, guitar or singing? This metronome runs right in your browser — no app to install. Set any tempo from 20 to 300 BPM and see the matching Italian tempo marking (Andante, Allegro, Presto…); if you do not know a song's tempo, tap along with Tap tempo (or press T) and the BPM is set for you. Choose 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 6/8, or build a custom meter of 1–16 beats with a half, quarter, eighth or sixteenth-note beat. Toggle the first-beat accent, or click any beat dot to make it an accent, a medium accent, a normal beat or silent — great for syncopation and odd groupings. Add eighth-note, triplet or sixteenth-note subdivisions and pick a click, woodblock or beep sound. Clicks are scheduled ahead on the Web Audio clock, so timing is sample-accurate, unaffected by page jank, and stays steady in a background tab.

FAQ

How accurate is an online metronome?
Very. Instead of firing sounds from a JavaScript timer, every click is scheduled about 0.1 s ahead on the Web Audio clock, which is sample-accurate (about 0.02 ms) and immune to page jank or tab switching. If the beat sounds uneven, it is usually variable Bluetooth latency — try wired headphones or speakers.
How does 6/8 work, and what does BPM count?
BPM counts beats per minute, where a beat is the note value in the bottom of the time signature. In 6/8 you hear six eighth notes per bar with an accent on 1 and a medium accent on 4 — the familiar strong-weak-weak, medium-weak-weak feel. To count 6/8 in two dotted-quarter beats instead, use 2/4 with triplet subdivision.
