🚧Gantt Chart Maker - Free Online Project Timeline
A Gantt chart shows at a glance when each task starts and ends and which tasks are waiting on others — perfect for project plans and status updates. Fill in the task table with a name, section, start date and either an end date or a duration, progress and the IDs of predecessor tasks, and the chart draws itself: tasks are grouped by section, progress is shown as a darker fill, milestones appear as diamonds, and finish-to-start dependencies are drawn as arrows — turning red and dashed when a task starts before its predecessor finishes. Turn on Working days only to count durations Monday to Friday and skip weekends, which are shaded on the chart. Switch between day, week and month scales and show a today line. Drag a bar to move it, or drag its ends to change the start or end, and use Auto-schedule to push every task after its predecessors. Export PNG or SVG for slides and reports, export CSV to edit in Excel and import it back, or paste Mermaid gantt syntax to build a chart instantly. Your plan autosaves in the browser.

FAQ
- How are working-day durations calculated?
- With Working days only enabled, durations count Monday to Friday: a 3-day task starting on Thursday ends the following Monday, and a start date that falls on a weekend moves to the next weekday. Dragging a bar keeps its working-day duration. Only Saturdays and Sundays are skipped — public holidays are not, so adjust dates by hand around long breaks.
- How do dependencies work, and what do red dashed arrows mean?
- Every task has an ID. Type the IDs of its predecessors, separated by commas, in the Depends on column, and an arrow runs from the end of each predecessor to the start of the task (finish-to-start). If a task starts before its predecessor finishes, the arrow turns red and dashed. Auto-schedule by dependencies moves such tasks to start right after their predecessors while keeping their durations.
- Can I import a plan from Excel or Mermaid?
- Yes. A CSV needs name and start columns, with optional id, section, end, duration, progress, dependencies (semicolon-separated), milestone and color columns — exporting a CSV first gives you a template. For Mermaid, title, section, excludes weekends and lines like “Task :done, id, 2026-01-05, 5d” or “after id” are supported; paste them into the Mermaid syntax panel.
- How sharp are the exports, and where is my data stored?
- The chart is vector-drawn: SVG scales infinitely and PNG is exported at 2× resolution, crisp enough for slides and documents. Tasks autosave in your browser’s local storage and are never uploaded; clearing browser data removes them, so export JSON as a backup — you can import it later to keep editing.
