📓Handwriting Worksheet Maker - Chinese Grids & 4-Line Paper

Need handwriting practice for a child, a Chinese class or your own penmanship? Type the text you want to practise and choose a grid: the Chinese tian (田) and mi (米) grids, the hui-gong and nine-square grids, plain squares, a pinyin grid with four-line pinyin above every character (filled in automatically, with common multi-reading characters resolved by context), 300/400/500-cell Chinese manuscript paper, or English four-line paper in a print style with a single-story a or a cursive style. Modes: trace everything in light grey, show one dark model followed by N tracing cells (or tracing lines in English), or print blank grids. Pick the font (Kai, Song, Hei, Xingkai), red, green or black grid lines, cell size, characters per row and tracing shade, and add a title plus name, date and score fields. Long text flows onto new pages automatically; print at actual A4 size or export a PDF or PNGs — all generated in your browser.

FAQ

Why does the font look different on another device?
Sheets are drawn with fonts installed on your device. Windows includes KaiTi and STXingkai, and macOS includes Kaiti SC and Xingkai SC; if the chosen font is missing, another font is used instead. For the most consistent result, generate and print from a computer and check the preview before printing.
How big is the manuscript paper grid?
Manuscript paper always has 20 cells per row: 300 cells is 20×15, 400 is 20×20 and 500 is 20×25. Cell size is calculated from the A4 width — about 9 mm, or about 8 mm for 500 cells — with a gap between rows for corrections, a counter at every 100 cells and a 20×20=400 style note in the footer.
How does the English four-line paper work?
Each row has four lines and three spaces: lowercase letters sit in the middle space on the baseline (the third line), ascenders reach the top line and descenders the bottom one. The line height slider sets the whole band. Text wraps by words; in model-and-trace mode each sentence is printed once in black followed by tracing lines.
The printed cells are the wrong size — what should I check?
In the print dialog choose A4 paper, set scale to Actual size or 100%, and turn off Fit to page and headers/footers, so cells print at the exact millimetre size you set. You can also export a PDF and print it at actual size. If tracing looks too faint or too dark, adjust the tracing shade.
