🔎PDF Info Viewer - Check PDF Version, Page Size, Fonts, Images, Security & Metadata

Before sending a file to print you want to know it is really A4 and every font is embedded; when a PDF arrives you want to know whether it is encrypted, whether it can be printed or copied, and whether it hides JavaScript or attachments; or you just need to find out why it is so big. This tool produces a complete health report in one go. The overview shows file size, PDF version, page count, object count, whether it is linearized for fast web view, how many incremental saves it has, and samples pages to tell whether there is a text layer (no text usually means a scan). Page sizes are grouped and shown in millimetres, inches and points, with A0–A6, B4/B5, Letter, Legal, 16K and other paper sizes and orientation recognised; the per-page table adds rotation, an estimated size, and image, font and annotation counts. The metadata section lists the Info dictionary (title, author, creator, dates and more) and the XMP packet; the security section shows the algorithm (RC4, AES-128, AES-256), whether an open password is required, and eight permissions such as printing, copying, editing and form filling. The font list shows each font’s type, whether it is embedded or subset and the pages it is used on, warning about non-standard fonts that are not embedded; the image list shows pixel size, colour space, encoding (JPEG, JPEG 2000, JBIG2, CCITT…) and size. Finally it checks form fields, annotations and link targets, JavaScript, attachments, bookmarks, tagging, document language, PDF/A and PDF/UA claims, page labels and layers. Export the report as JSON or TXT. The file is only read, never modified or uploaded.

FAQ

How can I tell whether the fonts are embedded?
Check the Embedded column in the font list. Print shops and archives usually require every font to be embedded. The 14 standard PDF fonts such as Helvetica and Times are built into every reader, so they display fine without embedding and are labelled as such. “Subset” means only the characters actually used are embedded, which is normal and recommended.
Can it inspect encrypted PDFs?
Yes. Even with an open password, the tool reads the encryption algorithm, whether a password is needed to open the file and every permission flag. Encrypted content such as metadata and fonts may be missing or garbled; decrypt the file with our Unlock PDF tool first if you need the full picture.
Why does the text layer say no text was found?
The tool samples up to 10 pages and tries to extract text. Scanned PDFs and PDFs made from images have no text layer, so they cannot be searched or copied. Our Scanned PDF OCR tool can add a searchable text layer.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser; the file is only read, never modified, and nothing is sent over the network.
